Nice hotel but lack in character and service

Spacious room and plenty of storage. The bed is very comfortable

The rain shower in our room does not work. They should provide smaller mug for the coffee machine, the one provided is too tall to fit. Staffs are not friendly (don’t see anyone smiling) - the cafe staff in particular is quite rude

Decent, clean, convenient.

Rooms were clean, though a bit small. 2 adults and 2 prisch kids fit comfortably enough on 3 single beds (we pushed two tog). Sockets for SG plugs are available, lol. Gym was well-equipped and maintained for holiday workout purposes (treadmills, think I saw an elliptical and stationary bike), decent range of free weights, weight machines and kettlebells.

Remember to bring a swim cap/cap if you want to swim! Otherwise you'll have to buy one from the hotel.

Fantastic stay

The residence rooms were comfortable and the in room amenities was truly great. Washing machine, full set of utensils, Nespresso machine and microwave were very useful. The Japanese style toilets with buddy was a plus point for this hotel. The location which was a 5 mins walk to Dongdaemun History & Culture Station makes this a desirable location to stay when at Seoul. Also there is a restaurant called Kebabway nearby, run by Mr. Saad which makes the loveliest kebabs and fries we have ever had. Great for people looking for halal food at this area . I would gladly stay here on my next visit to Seoul.

Nice stay with a minor defect which could be improved easily.

Very polite and efficient staff

The shower door can be closed properly and the floor outside the shower stand is wet. The temperature of the shower changed suddenly from warm to very hot or cold. May be it’s the mixer of the tap iron the water pressure. We had 2 rooms and the guests in the next room had the same problem.

Good

Room is big. Location is great. Gwang gang market and dongdaemun are both within walking distances.

Residence side has kitchenette area. We tried to do some simple heating of food. But only the small induction was working. Took us awhile to get our food heated up.

Comfortable hotel stay for active tourists

Facilities are well maintained and accessible. Firm pillows and bed - the best for snoring sleepers. Very advanced toilet bidet. International power outlets.

The rooms faced the rear which was full of old buildings while I would have liked one facing the main road and mountain range. Both rooms were at level 6 which is too low for my taste. Housekeeping sometimes take till 4pm to finish, which we had to move to our other room for the staff to finish cleaning. It was not very clear at the 1F entrance that the check-in desk is at the upper floor.

Great Stay with Family !

Location of the hotel was very nice with food options and public transportation just a few steps away from the hotel. Staff were attentive and helpful. The cleaness of the hotel in general and the room were pretty good. Airport express bus stops near the hotel entrance is a plus.

the Mattress and the pillows were not comfortable, the didn't refurbish the coffee capsules everyday, the fact that they asked for extra charge to provide beddings (bed sheets) when asked to make up the couch for my daughter. They reciption staff said we can provide 2 pillows and a blanket only. If you want us to set it up it would be an extra charge, not what I expected from a five star hotel. The location although good and close to public transportation and food markets but it is not near the touristy distenation.

Superb

We stayed at the Novotel Dongdaemun for around a week in late October. Overall, we enjoyed our stay here and would come again. We'd give it 8.5-8.8 points (which rounded up is 9). Pros: - The staff are efficient and helpful. We ended up having a late lunch at the restaurant one day, and the staff extended the kitchen hours to take in one last order. - Location is excellent. It has great connectivity to various neighbourhoods and tourist areas (Itaewon, Gangnam, Myeongdong, Gwanghamun, Insadong) through Seoul's public transport system. The subway and bus stations are also very close to the hotel (roughly 3-7 minutes walk depending on which station). - Food was easy. Lots of cafes, convenience stores and restaurants nearby. As Muslim travellers, the Russian Street about two lanes away from the hotel was a boon because there was easy access to halal food. There were also a few small supermarkets nearby, but you would have to go much farther afield to get a bigger supermarket like Lotte since there weren't any in the area. - Good housekeeping and rooms. Everything was clean and the bed is comfy. The kitchen in the residences is fully equipped; it even came with an electric rice cooker.

Cons: - The hotel is a bit on the pricier side, but Seoul hotels in general are pricey so this is a minor point. - The dryer in the residence room has some automatic child lock (?) function, so if you fail to take out your clothes on time, you'll struggle with opening the dryer.

cozy place with good price and perfect location.

- Kids club is very joyful and my kid have so much fun, it is rarely to see similar to this playground inside a hotel. - The residence room have washing machine, cocker, microwave, fridge and full kitchen tools. - The DDP is 5 mins walk by the hotel. - They offer you English breakfast tea, as it is hard to find them in Seoul. - The drinking water is in plastic bottles, as they usually drinking from tap water in Korea. - The size of room is excellent. - The internet is fast and stable.

- The breakfast close 10:40 am while they should stay till 11:00 am as most of countries doing the same. - They don’t have Halal menu. - They don’t have a massage or spa inside the hotel. - Toilet sink does not drain water quickly, as we have reported this so many times but maybe it has a design issue. - They don’t have a public quite room to have a virtual meeting, I have tried to set in the computer room in 20th floor but the music is very loud. Also the meeting room in the 2nd floor close at 20:00 and you should book the room in advance, where most of 5 stars hotel offer business center open 24 hours to their residents.

Excellent location, value for money and convenience

Excellent location, situated at a number of metro lines, also excellent value. We had a suite and found the kitchen and washer/dryer really handy over our stay of 10 days. We didn’t try the restaurant or bars, as we went out, so we can’t comment about them.

Everything was excellent, only minor point is that some of the towels and one of the dressing gowns was a bit worn out with tattered edges, they needed replacing.
